CREATING A PET PORTRAIT
I prefer to work in watercolour. I can arrange to photograph
your pet, or I can work from a clear photograph or digital
image.
I need a large head shot, three quarter view is best with
the head slightly turned and showing both eyes, which must
be open, and ears pricked or alert.
It’s best if you can crouch down to
be on the same level as your pet. If possible, take a whole
roll of film, or if using a digital camera make sure that
you choose a picture which shows your pet’s personality.

A 400 speed film is best with shots taken
in various positions. The accuracy and clear detail of
the photo is important as it effects the quality of the
final portrait.
Try using a treat or a toy to focus the dog’s attention
before taking the photo

Finished paintings are approx 12”X 10” (30cm X 26cm)
plus approx 4” (10cm) for the frame and mat.
