PET PORTRAITS

Here are some of my pet portraits. They can be painted from good clear photographs. For instructions and how to order, see below.

CREATING A PET PORTRAIT

I prefer to work in watercolour. I can arrange to photograph your pet, or I can work from a clear photograph or digital image.

I need a large head shot, three quarter view is best with the head slightly turned and showing both eyes, which must be open, and ears pricked or alert.

It’s best if you can crouch down to be on the same level as your pet. If possible, take a whole roll of film, or if using a digital camera make sure that you choose a picture which shows your pet’s personality.

A 400 speed film is best with shots taken in various positions. The accuracy and clear detail of the photo is important as it effects the quality of the final portrait.

Try using a treat or a toy to focus the dog’s attention before taking the photo
